Mr. Maideen's teaching journey began in 1989, right after he completed his GCE A-Level examinations. While waiting to start university, he took on the role of a relief teacher at a Ministry of Education school and simultaneously began providing private tuition to a handful of students. This initial commitment evolved into a lifelong passion, which is at the heart of the story behind DDEC (Donason Deen Education Centre). Even while pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mr. Maideen continued to teach small groups after his lectures. Despite the challenges of balancing his engineering studies with teaching, he discovered that each improvement in his students' results reinforced his belief in the transformative power of education. Central to his approach is Mr. Maideen's teaching philosophy: "If I am already teaching a student, I should teach that student as though he or she has the potential to become one of the top performers in the school."
