Over more than 35 years, Mr Maideen has taught in schools, tuition centres and private classes across Singapore.

The Three Principles That Guide Every Lesson
Mr. Maideen's teaching journey began in 1989, right after he completed his GCE A-Level examinations. While waiting to start university, he took on the role of a relief teacher at a Ministry of Education school and simultaneously began providing private tuition to a handful of students. This initial commitment evolved into a lifelong passion, which is at the heart of the story behind DDEC (Donason Deen Education Centre). Even while pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mr. Maideen continued to teach small groups after his lectures. Despite the challenges of balancing his engineering studies with teaching, he discovered that each improvement in his students' results reinforced his belief in the transformative power of education. Central to his approach is Mr. Maideen's teaching philosophy: "If I am already teaching a student, I should teach that student as though he or she has the potential to become one of the top performers in the school." This guiding principle continues to shape every lesson at the tuition centre in Singapore today.

During those early years, something became increasingly clear to Mr Maideen: his teaching philosophy evolved as he came to realize that the greatest satisfaction did not stem from his own academic achievements. He recalls reading a quotation that profoundly influenced his thinking: "A book on how to make a map is one step greater than a book of maps." This insight transformed his view on education. Mr Maideen understood that he was no longer pursuing excellence solely for himself; his mission was to help others become excellent. He aimed to equip them with the knowledge, confidence, and mindset to achieve goals they once considered impossible.
